APPOINTMENT OF NEW DIRECTOR The Board of Good Energy, the PLUS quoted carbon solutions specialist, today announces the appointment of Rick Squires as a Non-Executive Director of the holding company, Good Energy Group PLC. Rick has extensive experience in international energy business across a wide range of activities and fuels. Until 2003 he was based in Boston, USA with InterGen, an international power company. Prior to this, Rick headed the Power Business within Shell Gas and Power, London. His career in Shell spanned over 25 years and included senior management positions in Shell Coal International, Shell Gas & Power and Shell International Trading. Before joining Shell, he worked in the UK as a graduate engineer for South Western Electricity. Rick holds a First Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Business Studies. Rick is also Chairman of Eclipse Energy UK Ltd which is developing a 150 MW offshore wind farm in the UK and is a Senior Advisor to an Executive Search company specialising in the renewables, clean energy, new technology, power and finance sectors. Good Energy Limited sells electricity to homes and businesses that are matched 100% (over 12 month periods) by purchasing from wholly renewable sources including wind power, sun and naturally falling water.
The Company submits itself to audit verification annually by a Top 10 firm of Chartered Accountants to give customers the assurance that such is the case. Good Energy Limited has over 24,000 domestic and business customers, is regulated by OFGEM. It has a Supply Licence to operate in England, Wales and Scotland. Good Energy Limited also operates a home renewable electricity generation scheme where the Company undertakes to buy the output from small-scale renewable generation plants installed on private premises. Good Energy Generation Limited is the Group's acquisition vehicle for renewable generation assets. It acquired a 4MW wind farm at Delabole in North Cornwall in 2002 which supplies part of Good Energy's needs; at present we are consulting on the re-powering of this site with more modern turbines and aims to increase the output up to three times the current level. More acquisitions are being sought to support Good Energy's growth, the policy being to own and operate asset and for Good Energy Limited to purchase the output from these sites. All the power from Delabole is supplied to Good Energy customers. The Group is based in Chippenham, Wiltshire and commenced operations in 1999. In July 2004 Good Energy Group PLC completed its second public offer of subscription raising £1,028,225 and in December 2007 a third public offer of subscription raised £1,066,600 of new funds. It has around 1700 shareholders, nearly all of whom are Good Energy customers.
