LAUNCH OF WIND PLANNING CONSULTATION
LAUNCH OF WIND PLANNING CONSULTATION
The Board of Good Energy Group plc ("Good Energy" or "the Company"), the PLUS quoted carbon solutions specialist, announces that it has launched a wind planning consultation as part of the Company's continued drive to establish itself as a leading player in the renewables sector.
The Company is planning to repower its Delabole Wind Farm, which currently has ten 400kW wind turbines generating on average 10,000MWh per year. This is sufficient to supply the equivalent domestic energy needs of 3,000 homes annually (figures based on UK Energy Digest 2005). The proposed repowering of the site involves the replacement of the original turbines with modern, more efficient turbines which will be capable of generating up to three times more electricity. The anticipated timescale of the repowering is expected to take two to three years to completion.
Currently consultations are taking place with the North Cornwall District Council and scientific studies are underway to plan the most efficient and least disruptive model for the proposed repowering. The Board will be seeking planning permission towards the end of the year once the Consultation is satisfied that the most appropriate solution has been identified.
Good Energy is hosting the third Delabole Wind Fair, where the Consultation will be launched, on Saturday 18th August. The Wind Fair celebrates renewable energy and sustainable living. More than 40 organisations involved in eco-living and green energy will exhibit to the 4,000 expected visitors.
APPOINTMENT OF FINANCIAL PR ADVISER
The Board also announces the appointment today of Bishopsgate Communications Ltd. ("Bishopsgate") as its Financial PR adviser, with immediate effect. Bishopsgate has been appointed to manage the strong news flow that lies in the Company's pipeline and will be seeking to broaden both the Company's investment strengths and brand to the Retail Investment community.
CEO of Good Energy, Juliet Davenport, commented: "Today's news marks the next step in the Company's drive to engage with the wider community and its customer base in energy delivery and energy use. Good Energy Group is committed to developing sustainable energy solutions for the future, and both the launch of the wind planning consultancy and the engagement of Bishopsgate Communications are part of a new initiative towards achieving this goal."
